Sony Creative Software (SCS) has sold the majority of its media software line to Germany-based Magix, including Vegas, DVD Architect, Movie Studio, Sound Forge, SpectraLayers Pro, Audio Master Suite, ACID, etc. SCS will remain a part of Sony Electronics and will continue to own and distribute its Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Production Suites.
Magix will continue to support all current SCS customers to ensure a seamless transition. The company has also hired several former SCS employees and plans to release new versions of the video editing programs Vegas Pro and Movie Studio in Q3/Q4. Great. Now I can watch Magix run it into the ****ing ground. I’ve never had a single good experience with Magix – it’s all consumer software made for children. Knowing them, they’ll just rename it to Magix Premium Ultimate Movie Studio Nevada Edition 20.1 Pro. Rest in peace, Vegas. I knew thee well.
