USD for Maya Overview

Autodesk has published a blog outlining an Overview of USD for Maya including future plans. According to Autodesk these include the desire to “make Maya an awesome place to create, assemble, and work with USD. We want to bring the strengths of a USD pipeline to the industry-proven modelling, character animation and simulation workflows in Maya, allowing you to work natively with USD, but use the Maya workflows artists know and love”. Ware did they get that idea from? SideFX Houdni …. funny (sad) to see Autodesk trying catch up with them to little to late
They are working for a long time on this. First announcements in 2017 if you do some research. They did a lot of background work since than.
yes, they are good with announcements, not so good with real dev work. did you see what sidefx developed BEFORE they did any official announcements? 🙂
Just grab the one from Autodesk and use it its there for over a month now. Even the Arnold part is open sourced.
