UVReactor released promising a new approach to UV mapping in 3ds Max
RapidTools has announced the release of UVReactor, a new plugin for 3ds Max that uses an advanced algorithm for unwrapping and relaxing UVs that employs the efficient AVX2 instruction set of modern CPUs to perform significantly more work per cycle compared to other UV editors, all while running on a single CPU thread.
The tool excels in mass packing, handling up to 1.5 million polygons and thousands of UV shells in just seven seconds. It also integrates seamlessly with Max’s native Graphite Modeling tools, addressing compatibility issues with the Unwrap UVW modifier. The Multi-Stitch feature handles normalization, texel density, and positioning of stitched UV shells across multiple shells simultaneously.
Setting up texel density is simplified with UV Reactor, allowing users to easily change target texture sizes and ratios or retrieve texel density of UV shells with a single action. The hardware-accelerated OpenGL-based viewport ensures a responsive and efficient user experience, even with complex models.
The software’s UI mirrors that of 3ds Max, making it easy to pick up for users. It also supports grouping for improved UV packing, texel density management, and UDIM handling. A complex UV cleanup algorithm is included to fix issues caused by other applications.
Future updates will bring support for tileable textures and UDIMs, as well as a UVReactor modifier.

Another alternative out there is UV packmaster for blender, incredibly fast running on GPU. Worth checking!
UV Packmaster is very different, since it’s just a UV packer. This is a complete UV solution including many features like the UnwrapUVW or RizomUV for example.
“this is a complete UV solution” that requires a paid subscription to 3dsMax, so I suggest another alternative for people that do not use 3dsMax. And in combination with the built in blender tools, it’s a complete suite. I am not a blender fanboy, don´t worry.
UVReactor for 3ds max is really amazing and much more than UV packmaster for blender. I would still choose 3ds max over blender 10 out of 10 times. Thanks for your opinion and here, that was mine.
Do you think we click on a 3DS Max article to look for a comment and informations about a Blender Plugin that does not do what the plugin does here ??
You are probably more a Blender Fanboy than you think 🙂
So true! Thx, same goes through my mind while reading Jumanjis Post. I really don’t know why blender guys almost always have to hijack any 3DSMax related article…
You may have lost your mind…
It’s healthy to have alternatives.
Krita and Affinity photo are Photoshop alternatives. Do they have all the same features? No, but they still are alternatives.
Fusion and Natron are Nuke alternatives. Do they have all the same features? No, but they still are alternatives.
Let common sense talk here and not silly accusations. Also, my main tools are Maya and Houdini, and I rarely use Blender, but you need to be aware of what’s available out there.
People accusing other users just because they inform of alternatives is plainly childish.
There is a free uv packer form max…https://www.uv-packer.com/download/
UV reactor is a whole UV mapping system not just a packer.
If I’ll have to skip between apps to make my UV I would use Rizom not some blender packing plugin.
Not a good comparison, you can keep all of your models in max, have direct feedback, etc. so no, not an alternative.
I stay with unwrella… fast and simple
It dependes on where you are using. In game development it’s not really ideal.
Price needs to be more competitive, its almost the same as Rizom which has much more features and is about to have an update.
The price is competitive and it will be more and more competitive over time, since new updates are coming each month several times. It already has several feature Rizom will never have. Like the speed and quality of the unwrap or the fact that you don’t have to export your model out from max and you can even create and monitor your models while you are modeling. It has all the selection tools that max offer (from graphite modeling tools). So in certain areas it alread does much more.
For viewport speed comparison for example:

Very cool plugin. Well done
Very impressive! I wish the native Max UnrwapUVW was as robust. Plugins like UVReactor or tyFlow prove there’s so much untapped potential in many of the tools Max already has, the problem is, they’re just… old at this point.
Jumanji is absolutely right in his comment! Why do you all want to pay a lot for eat barbecue when there is free and fresh grass everywhere?
