Chaos Group has released service pack 3 for V-Ray for 3DS Max, bringing a long list of new features and improvements:
- Speed optimizations – will render most scenes up to 20-50% faster
- New variance-based adaptive sampler – a new algorithm that makes renders quicker to set up and removes the need to set subdivisions for lights and materials, making it easier to get high quality, predictable renders
- Triplanar mapping – for simple, UV-less textures
- Ray-traced rounded corners – for perfectly smooth edges between intersecting objects at render time (works with separate objects, VRayProxy objects, displaced objects, etc.)
- New sky model and aerial perspective – for realistic, natural-looking environments
- Improved V-Ray Clipper with render-time Booleans – for cutaways using any arbitrary mesh
- Stochastic flakes – for more realistic materials like snow, sand, and car paints
Thanks for your updates! nowadays for us (max users) you are biggest hero!
Great update, thanks Chaos Group!
This is a fantastic update!
I hope this also fixes a lot of the bugs from the last update.
its just Chaosgroup… still the best rendersoluttion..
by the way.. i love the musik of the film… does anyone know what that is ?
it shame vray proxy view as point didnt get updated like forest pack pro view as point , or corona proxy show as point..another is vray instancer as another way around when you dont have FPPp, but itsn’t updated too.
Looks amazing. Now us Maya users sit back and patiently wait. 🙂
The speed improvement (20-50% faster) from vray 3.2 seems too big… can someone confirm that it is true?
I think it’s pretty accurate. It’s hard to tell if the increase is strictly due to the new workflow, or if the new sampler code is making it faster. I’d imagine a combination of both. I can definitely get better results faster though.
Love it, Chaos Group haven’t disappointed yet.
Solid delivery as always! I’m using Vray 3.3 at the moment and I’m really enjoying the speed improvements and new features. You can really feel the hard work that everyone at Chaosgroup has put into this update.
Thanks!
