Hi,

The curriculum feels a lot like the previous programs but packed together.
Has anyone taken these course(-s)?
Does anyone have any feedback on the quality and usability of the techniques learned when going out looking for a job or working in a production environment?
The website and teacher are very experienced but i’d like to know first-hand experiences with his courses.

Many thanks

You heard from who? Or do you jus tiles to go around talking about someone else. The course is being delivered as we speak just like all the other were delivered. I have a very open Facebook activity showing the progress of each lesson. I live of creating this material and comments like yours without proof are completely out of place.

I’m in the course, but I haven’t finished because it a TON of stuff. The 2013 version is 80h long. He’s updating the 2013 version with different examples, but more condensed.

Than he has planned to go through a ton of FX shots of Avatar (which he worked) and some prototyping stuff on the “bbc” series. So there’s a long way until he goes through it all, but so far I’m enjoying the course and his teaching method.

Loved your previous RF. tutorials. However, I think you guys have the worst preview ever for the new programs. It doesnt give any info on what you are going to teach, just you rambling on about what you are going to show… Why don’t you give us a preview or a 1 minute time lapse of the tutorial or what you are going to teach, like you did with the RF tutorials?

I don’t know about stuff that was promised. All I know is that the old program is like 80H of content + Case Studies.

The new program is more condensed than the first, with different examples but using the same technique or approach. This time using Maya 2017. There’s also two new parts of the course coming in the future, one about using VFX to create some interesting shots of the BBC Earth series (birds flocking, etc) and FX prototyping and other about recreating shots from the Avatar movie (that Luis worked on).

I’m in the course and so far it’s pretty cool. I’m watching the 2013 FX Program and there’s already 03 new classes for the 2017 Program, which is schedule to have 200h+.

Why on the earth do you want to do FX in Maya?

I also acquired this program via Vimeo in the past and I have to say that it is absolutely phenomenal.

I just miss some updated procedures, leveraging new technologies like Bifrost or Houdini, but I presume this should be in this new program.

I don´t like to enroll in course because I don´t have time to keep the pace, but I hope this entire course is also released in Vimeo at some point like the old one.

Also I did not understand what do you mean by “promised but never delivered courses”, can you clarify? maybe you just missed them 🙂

Cheers!
