XrayBlendSkin is a new plugin by Napoli-based Raylight that offers Dual Quaternion skinning. Max uses linear vertex blending for skinning by default, this causes a lot of artifacts during bones’ rotation, especially the classic candy-wrap effect. Dual Quaternion skinning maintains volume a lot better, BUT it cannot be used alone as a general solution. In some situations you still would like to maintain linear skinning and with XrayBlendSkin you can. You can even paint the amount of Dual Quaternions’ influence.
