There are also new features to aid 3d printing including display modes to show a visual representation of wall thickness, real-time draft analyses for preparing models to several manufacturing processes, and the ability to calculate surface areas and volume.

A new CamView feature allows you to understand the orientation of your sculpt in relation to the world axis, and a live silhouette view allows you to evaluate the shape of the model as you sculpt.

To see a full list of what’s new, visit the Pixologic website.

Why is the same XTractor video displayed 5 times in a row?

There’s other videos, I’m sure they just did a little goof and repeated the same clip instead of showing the others. On Pixologic’s YouTube channel they have 6 short clips like these.

Edit: See, they fixed it…kinda. Now there’s 2 Infinite Depth videos.

I wish they would just remove all the ancient remnants of the 2.5D stuff and make a real coordinate system with actual objects instead of the current system. Seems like a cleaning of the cob webs would do them well.

Looks like they are debating if they should start charging for upgrades. It was a good long ride with free updates. I never used it much, but I got my moneys worth since I only paid a couple hundred bucks years ago. Though with the 3D printing stuff, I may start to actually explore it more.

Perpetual licenses are a one-time cost and guarantee free upgrades for one year form date of purchase. After that, upgrades to new versions may come at a nominal fee although in practice we have never yet charged for an upgrade.

It has been always mentioned in the agreement, nothing has changed.

Has it? Guess I never scrolled down far enough to read it.:) I suppose better safe than sorry when that time comes. I keep wondering how long can they do that before they realize the income isn’t coming in like it used to. Other than raise the price for new users like they have been slowly over the years.

I wonder if Pixologic eventually jumps on that subscription-only bandwagon.

Clone stamp… finally there. Don’t need to switch to the legacy 2.5D mode for this anymore. Now, where’s the UV editor that was ready 2 years ago on Z Summit? Holding up for ZBrush 2030?
