I was just thinking about that yesterday – I thought they were going to jump to 5 it had been, what 8 months + since the announcement.

I think they just wanted a longer beta phase. Zbrush 4r7 had severe bugs and they have made it stable after the third patch. Also they will have more time for release 5 this way.

I feel it’s been a bit _too_ long since their last release. If they are going to have an extra long beta period, I would like to see them go the Chaos Group or Redshift way of allowing consumers to opt-in to test the newest release which I believe everyone for both companies is allowed to do.

It has been awhile. But you have to keep in mind that they are releasing this as 64 bit (R7 was beta 64bit). I’m sure they had plenty of things to fix to get that prepared. But I’m excited, finally we’ll have a true 64 bit ZBrush that will be supported. I also have no problem with them taking their time, however agonizing, as I have received free updates since version 2.x. Very few companies do that, and I’m not sure how long they can. So I have little to complain about, well, the UI system can be confusing as heck if you don’t use it often enough, and the system scale can be improved upon a lot.

Yeah…having purchased it so many years back, and having never paid again for it (so far…), it becomes hard to gripe…it becomes just as hard to figure out how they stay in business!

I’m still not a fan of the UI/workflow, and doubt that I ever will be, but at present there’s nothing that comes close for me.

Very happy they added the new booleans and new workflow. Was hoping it would be added, and it was.
