Scanning company Holocreators has released a tutorial explaining how to create free 3D scans of objects using a phone camera and free software. Towards the end, they also compare the results to a professional scan created with a scanner that cost 20,000 Euros. According to their results, the difference is just 0.2mm between the meshes.
