Adobe release Creative Suite 2 for free
Adobe has made Creative Suite 2 available for free to anyone with an Adobe Account. Existing and new account holders are able to download the full suite including Acrobat, Audition, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere and Photoshop, all with serial numbers for Windows and OSX. Download from Adobe.com.
Update
Though this story is being widely reported, there’s no press release yet from Adobe themselves. These install files and serials were originally released for existing owners of the CS2 suite to enable them to continue using the product after the license servers had been retired, but has created a loophole whereby anyone can download a copy. The legality of using this release commercially without an original CS2 license has yet to be verified by Adobe.
Why? Except of completely destroying the last rests of some poor competitors and filling their account-database with 1 billion users…. why? I worked with CS2 till last year and upgraded only beacuse i have had a cheap offer… I miss something…
Igor, I’m as confused as you. Starting to suspect that it may be an error on Adobe’s part. It’s being widely reported around the web but no actual press from Adobe themselves. Very odd. I’m keeping and eye on it and I may pull this story if it turns out to have been a mistake.
This is a very smart move!
It’s an old version, and it will allow a lot of people that can’t afford the suites to work with an old version, unless they need the advanced version, this will erase a lot of piracy from adobe apps, because a lot of people don’t what to pirate anything, just to do small things with photoshop, this will give them a lot of leverage over Gimp and other free and cheap projects.
In my opinion, if this is real this is a very very very smart move!
They did a smart move with Creative Cloud and the subscription, and releasing CS2 for free, it’s an astonishing movement, and a very smart one 🙂
Actually Adobe closed activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 on 12/13/2012, so Adobe provides universal serial code for all legitimate users who need a CS2 re-installation.
Adobe didn’t provide free CS2 products for all users.

Thanks Arnold, I suspect that is the case too. I’ve since amended the post to reflect the growing doubt over this offer.
Then why is there a page with the download and the serial for all the adobe id owners?
We will have to wait until confirmation, but i hope they do the move, this will give adobe a lot of leverage without loosing legit users IMHO.
I have another question, the news are burning tweeter and the blog world, the tech press and other sites.
Why is adobe not denying it?
Cheers.
Not really official, but least a (sadly denying) statement that claims to be from Adobe

With all the noise the news has made, and allthe people claiming it’s a great move, I thinkthey have to make an official statement about that, positive or negative, maybe they re-consider this, and that’s why they are not giving an official answer yet.
Again it is a great move against piracy and other competitors.
Cheers.
BTW the website is openly available, freely accesible to anyone without the need to register or login, and it has links and serial numbers.
It’sa non sense if you want to limit to current holders of a license, the normal thing is that you make the download available just throught the account and in the private download section, and licensing section where you can see your serial numbers, having it that way is strange :S
Cheers.
Here is a link where the answer of an admin of adobe forums says”correct” to the free downloads, but also says that this was to help their costumers.
He is not deniying the availability to themrest of the world either.
“While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.”

If you make something available this way everyone knows what’s going to happend.
Let’s hope Adobe confirms it in the end.
Cheers.
Does anyone have a copy of Windows 95 I can run it on?
@ David Leonard
I already downloaded and Activated PS CS2 from here :
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html
tested and working perfectly on windows 7 ultimate x64
In lieu of the absurd upgrade scheme this is the least they could do 🙂
and frankly, I don’t know about anyone else but those versions do 98% of anything I would possibly care to do.
@David, I am pretty sure you are just being a smart-ass 🙂
For the record you could have installed that in windows Vista beta. CS2 is not that old I just barely upgraded to Photoshop CS5.5 from CS2 as that was the last version allowed to upgrade in the old scheme. I merely upgraded just to keep “upgrade rights” there is nothing really “new” since the advent of the layer system, quick masks, and adjustment layers, for the general 3d users IMO.
