Autodesk announced the immediate availability of Autodesk Cloud, a collection of more than a dozen web-based services and capabilities, designed to enable Autodesk customers to use the cloud to access and store their work, view their work through web browsers or mobile devices, and share their work with other users.
Additional cloud services available to Autodesk Subscription customers (with Premium or Ultimate editions of Autodesk Design Suite or Autodesk Building Design Suite) provide other capabilities, such as rendering (for AutoCAD and Revit), 3D visual communication, simulation and collaboration. According to rumors, support for 3DS Max cloud rendering is in the works. The press release mentions Autodesk is collaborating with multiple partners, including Amazon and Citrix, to provide a scalable cloud computing infrastructure.
Also of note, the current announcement is an early example of cloud-based technologies that will be coming from Autodesk, the company already has plans for further related developments.
