Autodesk has announced that from August 30, 2017, 3DS Max and Maya rental customers will receive cloud rights that grant them the ability to execute remote batch functionality via multiple computers over the internet. For single licenses, users are able to launch 1 non-UI instance of the software. For each multi-user licence users can launch up to 10 non-UI instances. Note that these benefits are exclusively for rental customers only. Read more in the FAQ on Autodesk’s website.

Bear in mind that this gives you non-uno rights for Max and Maya, not for Arnold… if things are clear it gives you one non-ui license for Arnold with each license, but no matter if it’s single-user or multi-user…
Just so people don’t get over excited.
Cheers
Typo: non-uno = non-ui
I can not think any 3dsmax news that will make you too overexcited. 🙂
Also on the readme says extra arnold license is not included, and sold independently.
Eloísa i’m Sorry but I don’t have a good day today, you don’t know me, i’ve been one of the most fervurous Max evangelists, ne the most believers in Autodesk, when Lost In Space (the modern movie) was released I was super excited because max was used in some shots, I’ve been Beta tester of Max and Maya since Max 2010 and I could name A LOT more things Max related in a positive way.
The fact is that when you are a faithful customer since Max2009, making efforts to pay all our subs, etc… and after many years of paying without any REAL improvement in many areas you get stab in the back with their new licensing scheme then you don’t have any willing to speak any good things from a software company that lied to you.
I was fighting inside the Beta so they include render licenses of Arnold with max, at least some of them, do they hear anything? No… do you know what? They sent me out a T-Shirt that says : “I Drive 3dsmax” … yeah… sure…
Eloy you may want to get excited about max news, you may want to be faithful to Autodesk do it, I don’t care, but I want people to have things clear.
When I post that comment about Arnold licenses here is not because they don’t put that in the readme, but because I want to save people time having to look through it, because is in the end of the readme.
Cheers.
I think you not understood the words from Eloi… He is not trying to humiliate you, he just mean that really always not exist any good news about max and that your thougts about Arnold is confirmed on readme. Sorry my english… But.. Even for me is clear that him name is not Eloisa… I not know why u are mad.
Nope, I understood him correctly, the “Eloisa” thing is a typo, my iPad keyboard changed it and since we cannot edit posts here I can do nothing to fix it, but I think he understands this.
Now, I understood him correctly because he criticizes my continuous punishment to Autodesk in every news related to max, maya or Arnold, and it’s not really a punishment to Autodesk but a clarificatoin to everyone so they don’t fall in the deceptive marketing of Autodesk.
We have some history in conversations here, the good thing is that is always with respect, and even when we don’t agree, I respect him for that and he is free to criticize me, and that is good, I would never try to insult him changing his name or in any other way 🙂
Cheers.
Im not mad for Eloisa, but for “Eloy”. its only 4 letters man! haha, no worries.
And Im not critizising you continously on every news related to max. Belive me. I let it go most of the times. But this one,… come on! is not even a modification of anything! Its an improvements from what it was before thats for sure, if you dont want to take it, just let it go, but can be beneficial for some people, and for the ones that will not use it, I dont think its anything to critisize here.
I enter in Maxunderground since old times because was a cool place to talk, discover other people interested in max, and the news related. There was also all this “Max will be killed next” but since this becoume “Cgpress” looks its only a place for Autodesk haters. (I think critics its always welcome, its beneficial, but not when its only to put trash over and over, even on news not related over your licency policy disagreement (that I totally get)).
In fact if you review what I said in my first post, it was not a critic, I was just stating a fact and marking one important thing that old-time max users may understand with thus announcement, it wasn’t even a critic, just an statement to save time to people looking o how this affects Arnold.
Cheers.
All in all, Autodesk behavior pushed me to a solution between Modo and Houdini. And that with the fact that I really like 3ds Max. But you have to make a stand from time to time.
” …that can be used to perform any non-UI operations like simulations and caching, which would otherwise take up local system resources”
Awesome 3dsmax is so damn Multithreaded that all may ressources are taken when doing these operations. Oh wait, it´s not !
Hah, that’s what I thought – this doesn’t mean much to me, I’d rather not be reliant on an internet connection and a ton of data to get stuff done.
If they think it’s an incentive for me to give up my perpetual, other than it being a token ‘f**k those maintenance holdouts’ then they’re wrong.
So Autodesk is going to give rental users unlimited time, storage and bandwidth to be able to finish, store and transfer all of the work that is offloaded to the cloud, right?
this sounds a bit useless for medium/small sized companies that have only a few seats and locked. The amount of time invested in modifying the pipeline to make it work on the cloud sounds ridiculously expensive, to get just 1 to 1 nodes.
