3D-IO releases a new standalone UV unwrapping tool
3D-IO has announced Unwrella-IO, a standalone tool for automated UV unwrapping and packing.
The software includes intelligent UV unwrapping, optimal UV packing to prevent overlaps, and operates independently of third-party 3D applications. It is powered by industry-tested algorithms that have been used in AAA game development and visualization projects.
The software features multiple unwrapping modes to suit different workflows. Hard Surface Unwrapping is designed for mechanical and architectural models, ensuring distortion-free UVs with sharp edges and minimal seams. Organic Unwrapping focuses on characters and natural forms, providing smooth UVs with optimal seam placement. Mosaic Unwrapping is optimized for complex and chaotic topologies, balancing texel density for scanned assets and intricate surfaces. The software offers a fully automated UV creation process, generating optimized UVs with minimal distortion while allowing users to fine-tune parameters such as Seam Cut Angles, Stretching Tolerance, and UV Packing Quality.
Unwrella-IO includes advanced UV packing capabilities that minimize wasted space and ensure efficient texture mapping. The tool supports packing thousands of clusters and millions of polygons, offering features like texel density adjustments and UV tile management. Additional features include UV channel editing, quick UV packing, and customizable preferences for streamlined workflows.
Unwrella-IO is currently available for Windows, with a Mac version planned for future release. The software is offered as a permanent license with continuous updates and a mobile activation system for flexibility.
