A history of the artist-friendly Processing language
Casey Reas and Ben Fry have published a history of Processing, their free language created in 2001 to make computer science more accessible to designers, and bring teaching and learning how to code to a wider audience.
Processing was designed from the outset for “making pictures, for choreographing animation, and for creating interactive work” and since then it has enabled thousands of users to try their hand at the creative potential of code, a skill which many have been able to translate to their day to day work. If you are interested in learning more about Processing, you can read the history on Medium and find out more about the initiative on Processing.org.
