Adobe reports security breach, 2.9 million accounts and software source code likely compromised

According to a recent announcement by Adobe, the company has discovered attacks on its network involving “access of customer information as well as source code for numerous Adobe products”. The news comes a few months after Adobe announced the end of perpetual licenses and their push to move users and their data to the Creative Cloud. More on ZDNet, TechCrunch.

I just got the email today telling me that my password has been reset, as my account information was stolen.
They said they had emailed everybody already. I am guessing that they still haven’t discovered the extent of the damage.
I am starting to consider if I still want my personal data to be in the hands of incompetent companies who can not look after data, and when there is a breach like this, there is no “come-back” for them other than a brief statement that “everything is probably ok”.
Adobe must be very worried right now. With so much source code in the wild, their already vunerable programs are going to be even less secure now.
Got my “important mail” yesterday, they just mention they reset my password, nothing specific how the user should handle the situation…
it’s a shame that they do not admit anything and leave people unclear – I have no idea if my credit card infos are safe…
