Adobe has released a beta version of Project Felix for all paying Creative Cloud users. Project Felix offers a simplified approach to creating 3D graphics that enables users place 3D objects onto a background image, with controls to detect horizon lines and adjust perspective, create lighting and apply and tweak materials easily using an interactive renderer based on the V-Ray App SDK. Project Felix is available now, compatibly with Mac OSX and Windows 10. More on Adobe’s website.
How to use Project Felix
Adobe advertises Felix as a not professional tool for the experts. There is not such thing. Someone needs to be an expert in order to have really professional results. The end result of Adobe Felix is moderate and amateurish. It needs heavy retouching in many cases and an integration inside Photoshop as an update of it’s moderate 3d rendering capabilities would be much better. A not expert could not model a complicated mesh. So it’s use is especially for ready made boxes, cans, bottles of a given shape except if someone is lucky enough to find what he needs from a free or paid stock library.
