Adobe has released their May 2023 update for After Effects introducing a new Properties panel that allows creators to access important properties of Text and Shape layers, speeding up workflows. Shape Properties and Shape Transforms can be accessed without changing the timeline view or toggling down properties. Text, Paragraph and layer transform properties can also be updated without switching between panels.

Adobe has introduced the Effect Manager, a tool designed to identify potentially problematic effects that could interfere with project workflows or cause crashes. Users can disable these effects before proceeding with their work, saving time and reducing frustration. The Startup & Repair panel under Preferences offers troubleshooting options for set preferences without resetting them or starting over from scratch.

The update also brings improved file sorting in the Project panel, making it easier to organize filenames with numbers. Additionally, 3D Gizmo position snapping has been introduced, allowing layers to snap in 3D space while dragging the constrained X, Y, and Z position handles. This feature enhances 3D workflows, making it easier to work with 3D model layers.

The Track Matte pick whip icon has been revamped for easier differentiation from the Parent & Link icon. Support for new formats, including footage shot on Sony VENICE 2 V2.00 and iPhones in Cinematic mode, has also been added.

Beta features include the ability to extract cameras and lights from GLB and GLTF models in a composition. When importing a 3D scene with camera and light data, After Effects automatically creates new camera and light layers, complete with keyframes if the cameras or lights are animated.

Introducing the slowest 32 bit exr compositing performance in 2023. But then again who composites 32 bit in after effects…. Its like autodesk telling me i need to switch to maya from max if i want to animate characters.

It’s the slowest… everything . Apple’s Motion sweeps the floor with it in terms of rendering speed, like 3, 4 times faster at least. Shame it doesn’t have the same plugin ecosystem, otherwise i would have abandoned AE a long time ago. It’s amazing how much Adobe can get away with because of their monoploy.

I’m not trying to defend any major corporation, but judging by all the comments you’ve posted since your appearance on this blog, you probably suffer from “Dysthymia”… you should seek help… although it might be too late already.

Please, don’t use a illness to describe some social behavior, unless you are a psychologist. People with dysthymia do NOT deserve to be compared with any bitchy one.
