I don’t understand how someone can pull a 50 minutes video for a ‘what’s new’ that isn’t that impressive for Adobe Photoshop.
Adobe is doing more than the competition, but this update adds nothing impressive or important especially for the cg artists.
They are wasting their time with a ‘full’ photoshop for iPad like if people cared about it. maybe they are doing it because Affinity did it, but it is a dumb idea. I don’t know who wants to do any professional work on iPad if you can’t even use a Wacom tablet or other real software.
But like I said, Adobe is kind of doing better than the competition when it comes to photoshop.
What are the real alternatives? MAYBE Corel, but not many care about Corel PSP, and photo-paint if you wanted to use the CorelDraw suite seems too limited.
Affinity? The ones that say ‘we are not photoshop replacement‘ and then they have done nothing special in a year? they haven’t even fixed PS plugins, it is actually the worst PS plugins support in any software, and things like Affinity Designer probably still has the antialiasing issue and they don’t seem to care to do anything about it, probably they will say like in 2015 “just add a big object under those objects and problem solved, no more antialiasing issue”
Imagine if a company like BlackmagicDesign said the same few years ago, “oh, we are not premiere or FCP replacement” they probably a great color correction software with few editing tools and not the big cheap monster it is today.
It’s sad to know there is not a real competition against Photoshop. But it is crazy when someone can pull a 50 minutes video for a decent but not impressive new features in 2019. The only reason to upgrade to 2019 it is because you can, not because it is an amazing release.
Whilst all the updates to the AdobeCC programs are very interesting, you can only get them when you update to Windows 10. My Win 8.1 machine is still working fine so I don’t need to upgrade. Also Win 10 seems to have some random file deleting problems, I’m going nowhere near it.
Windows 10 problem happened only on last update, from all the 4 or 5 updates it has had.
So it sounds like that’s just an excuse not to upgrade, especially when it was only like 0.01% that got affected by the deleting of files. If you read about the problem, it wasn’t even a problem, it was just a weird behavior, a behavior you wouldn’t even encounter because if you upgrade from 8 to 10 you wouldn’t take the same path those people took.
For example, The main problem why people got their files deleted were because they changed Documents folder location and didn’t move the files. why would people do that? If you change the folder of location it’s to move the files, if not what is the point? so it was just people trying to be ‘super tech’ and then doing dumb stuff on their computers as usual, so it wasn’t ‘random’ as you are saying. most people like me upgraded 3 computers or more and nothing happened, if you found out about few people who got their files deleted, it’s because bugs and problems are reported more than successful installations obviously.
Windows 10 is better than 8. and this is good that Adobe if stopping supporting old platforms when most people are using 10 anyway. At least they are doing something better and hope they take advantage of win10 features rather than be lazy and don’t do much since they don’t have real competition with photoshop, so they do nothing, they waste time porting it to iPad for nothing and competition will still not catch app for excuses or lack of money resources.
Are you referring to 1809? From what I understand, that only affected those that relocated their user file location AND manually downloaded the update before it was set to automatic install for the rest of us. It isn’t deleting random files in other locations, unless there’s another bug I’m not aware of that does that.
Not that anyone uses it but they also broke zip handling in File Explorer. There is no warning dialog if an existing file would be overwritten by one from an archive. It just fails silently and keeps the original file. So it really seems like MS has a problem with file sync in general.
