While too early to pronounce this as definite good news, Discreet Senior Management have responsed to the “Compromise proposal” reported 2 days ago. Their reponse looks hopeful for all affected Character Studio customers, especially those overseas. Discreet should make some official announcement / press release shortly.
“It was agreed by Discreet that the situation needed another look. I’ll paraphrase what seems to have been decided and what is being looked at, but don’t give too much weight to this until you see official Discreet announcements.
First of all, for Overseas users: customers should be able to keep previous max locks as long as the customer has any plug-ins dependent on an earlier max version and no max4 versions are available. Instructions particular to CS2.2 will also be sent (this part is the part I’d like to hear much more on the specifics).
For North American CS customers: I was told they are looking into the CS2.2 recompile for max4 issue but weren’t ready to make any kind of decision yet. I’m tentatively hopeful they’ll reconsider their initial decision in light of negative customer response.
Like I said, the “official” word is still forthcoming and so let’s wait and see what that is before considering this matter settled.”
