Cinema 4D S24 released with new placement tools and more

Maxon has announced Cinema 4D S24, the latest subscription-only release of Maxon’s 3D application. Headline features include:

  • New Placement Tools to simplify creating an environment, adding props and creative exploration by dragging and dropping objects onto one another, painting objects onto a surface, or allowing objects to fall into place with the help of dynamics.
  • A new Asset Browser Makes it easy to find and use models, materials and other assets in 3D scenes. Browse and search online or local asset databases, including a library of assets available to C4D subscribers. Assets are organised using metadata and keywords and are downloaded and cached locally on demand.
  • Several animation workflow enhancements including improved curve evaluation and other workflow changes. Character Animators gain more powerful retargeting and pose workflows.
  • Changes to Scene Manager/Scene Nodes with the introduction of the Scene Manager, the successor to Cinema 4D’s Classic Object Manager. Use node-based assets to construct procedural geometry or entire scenes in this new hierarchy-based view or view the same objects in a continually evolving Scene Nodes editor.

Sidefx (Houdini), Blender, Maxon all seem to have figured out how to create worthwhile and comprehensive updates. Good for them.

…Maxon… was that sarcasm? This was probably most poor update for c4d.

Really? C4D users may not consider this a poor release, but as is often said of any Autodesk release, it has nothing groundbreaking. All complaints often made about Max could also levied against C4D. Isn’t it just as expensive as Max? Yet you need to rely on a bunch of plugins like X-particles,TP or TurbulenceFD for vfx work. Crucial aspects of the software (cloth, muscle, particle system, BodyPaint) have seen any big improvement in so long. Also, they bought Redshift and chose to sell it separately from C4D.
Anyways, maybe I’m missing something cos C4D users tend to be mostly positive with every new release.

Yeah, C4D does not even came with a proper render at current level. You have to buy Redshift or other.
