Corona 11 released with new Tile and Edge maps, scatter improvements and more
Chaos has announced the release of Corona 11. This version introduces new features to both 3ds Max and Cinema 4D, with some exceptions noted below.
Key enhancements include the Corona Tile Map for creating intricate tiled surfaces, Scatter Altitude and Scatter Look At for more realistic scene assembly, and Edge Map/Edge Shader for detailed object edges. Additionally, Pyro simulations are now seamlessly integrated into Cinema 4D for dynamic smoke and fire effects. For 3ds Max users, Corona 11 includes the Corona Power Tools, which provide scripts for streamlining design adjustments.
The update also features improvements in Normal and bump filtering, color management, and other smaller enhancements in both 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. These include updates to the Corona Image Editor, Command Line Interface, and various shaders. Cinema 4D 2024 sees enhanced performance in scattering, while 3ds Max benefits from improved scene opening times and other usability enhancements.
Furthermore, Corona 11 addresses some bugs shared across both platforms, including fixes to the Caustic solver and improvements to the rendering speed of Triplanar texmap. Other specific fixes have been made to address issues such as VFB history display and tone mapping UI performance.
