Crytek has announced the release of a preview build of CryEngine 5.4 with over 623 improvements. New features include:

  • Substance integration.
  • Several terrain features to allow for the blending and integration of separate objects into the terrain mesh.
  • Vulkan API support.
  • A new Component Entity System to provide a modular and intuitive way to construct games.
  • Extended Detail Bending, providing more control for the animation of foliage.
  • New C# templates.
  • Drag-and-drop support for the Asset Browser integration into other tools including the Material and Particle editors.
