D5 Render 2.8 released
D5 Render has announced the release of its latest version, D5 Render 2.8. One of the standout features in this update is a beta AI Enhancer, which improves various elements within renders such as lighting, materials, characters, vehicles, and vegetation. This tool offers selective area enhancement with three intensity levels—weak, normal, and strong—and includes an AI Enhancer Channel for precise area selection and task tracking.
D5 Render 2.8 also brings several improvements in lighting. The optimized semi-transparent effect allows users to achieve effects like colored gradient glass by adjusting opacity values and using black-and-white maps to control opacity patterns. The introduction of sunlight caustics enables realistic simulation of sunlight refraction and reflection, enhancing HDRI scenes. Additionally, the new rainbow flare effect mimics real-world camera effects, adding depth to outdoor scenes, while the enhanced HDRI sky colors option provides control over the sky’s hue and saturation.
Workflow integration has been improved with new LiveSync integrations for Rhino and Vectorworks, allowing real-time synchronization of model edits, materials, and viewports. The asset library has also expanded with over 190 new models, including construction site equipment, animated machinery, and vehicles, catering specifically to the AEC industry.
New and enhanced features include sculpture and PBR styles for ‘Text to 3D’ models, optimized make seamless interaction for automatic seam removal, and the addition of an opacity map to the displacement material template for precise material cutting effects. Real-time AO adjustments have been introduced, allowing designers to enhance details directly in the viewport without the need for post-production software.
Performance improvements in D5 Render 2.8 include optimized image rendering algorithms that reduce peak memory usage, minimizing the risk of crashes. The user experience has been enhanced with community-driven language packs, improved gizmo rotation, and mouse speed adjustments in navigation modes.
Additional features include an upgraded D5 Scatter with a cull effect to define areas free of scattering plants or objects and support for saving scatter presets. Visibility control in video mode now allows for the toggling of models and layers, facilitating keyframe animations, while the animation controller for models supports animated models in video mode.

Unfortunately the software when rendering is very slow.
