David Avgikos, co-founder and current President of Digimation has been charged in a criminal indictment issued by the U.S. Department of Justice On 16th July, 2004. The indictment, filed in Louisiana, charges that Avgikos accessed without authorization the computer records of Turbo Squid, Inc. at the Whitney National Bank for the purpose of commercial advantage and private financial gain in May 2002.
Digimation, co-founded in 1996 by Avgikos, was well known for
offering plug-ins for Discreet
3ds max software. However in January 2003 Discreet named Turbo Squid
as their Worldwide publisher for Discreet Certified 3ds max Plug-ins.
Digimation has subsequently sought to build partnerships with other
partners including Alias, Avid/Softimage, and Maxon.
If convicted Avgikos is facing a maximum penalty of five years in
jail, a fine of up to $250,000.00, or both.
