Dragon’s Lair, the fantasy adventure where you become a valiant knight on a quest to rescue the fair princess from the clutches of an evil dragon. Lead on adventurer, your quest awaits! Animation industry veterans Don Bluth and Gary Goldman have launched a Kickstarter campaign to create Dragon’s Lair: The Movie, an animated feature film based on their video game hit Dragon’s Lair from 1983. The movie is intended to be a “prequel” to the game and the backstory of Dirk the Daring, the lead character of the original video game. More on Kickstarter.

I love Dragon’s Lair but, man, that is one terrible promo video. It was like a bad 80’s infomercial – it makes them seem way too out of touch to do justice to this movie. It’s like how towards the end George Lucas was actually destroying everything that made Star Wars (and Indiana Jones) good. He just couldn’t be trusted with his own creations anymore.

Dragon’s Lair really deserves a Lord and Miller type of treatment. That would be amazing.
