Dynamo – a new cloth dynamics plugin for 3ds Max
Deform Dynamics has released Dynamo, a new GPU accelerated cloth dynamics plugin for 3ds Max. According to the developers, it is capable of 10-100x faster performance compared to the built-in cloth modifier.
Dynamo is modifier based and promises real-time performance and an interactive design process. At launch, the solver supports stretching, bending stiffness, pressure, soft bodies and wind forces with the ability to animate every property. Pins are supported and can be added and removed interactively. For creating clothing and other multi-panel designs seams are supported.
The plugin also allows the user to disable physical forces like gravity and just use Dynamo’s real-time interactive mode to sculpt cloth shapes. A subdivision mode is also included that is suited to smoothing simulated cloth.
Dynamo costs €99 and a 30-day trial is available. Unity and Unreal version appear to also be coming soon. Find out more on the Deform Dynamics website.
FINALLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Max Cloth plugin!!
Now to try it.
OMG!! I JUST TRIED THE DEMO… I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW FAST IT IS…
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
SOrry for the caps..im just THAT excited… tomorrow i continue my tests… i REALLLLLLY hope its stable!
Look nice. I just wish there would be a payment option for paypal, since not everybody owns a credit-card :-/
This is the best max plugin news ever. Well, at least since Tyflow. I bought it straight off.
Now, if someone did the same for Biped, I would be completely content.
Their support is stellar as well, as I had an installation problem, that they fixed straight away.
looks a good tool… with a good price too!
Lots of cool 3ds max plugin news these days. Exciting stuff 🙂
This is – awe-inspiring!!!
Best plugin since Bones Pro, I should add!
Bravo!
Tech support is non existent for me. The plugin freezes Max, but support hasn’t replied after 4 days and 2 emails.
Check their Discord maybe better chances there.
Hi David, sorry to hear that. We (Deform Dynamics and VINTR) have looked through our channels and can’t find your emails.
You can email me directly at peter@vintr.se or join our discord (https://discord.gg/sKWhrWU) and we’ll try to help.
Thanks for the help Peter. Got it working now.
Just had an e-mail saying they’re End of Life-ing Dynamo and are offering refunds to people…
That must be a record.
Maybe they would earn a lot of money working only with marketing and advertising. After all, all the advertising they did about Dynamo convinced us all that it would be something useful, stable and revolutionary, then.. . . . .
Damn, that was quick. Would be fantastic if they put it into Open Source… but this won’t happen 🙁
Well… why i am feeling that some “new” clothing solution will appear incorporated into 3ds max 2022 or 2022.1?? 😏
Don’t know – some people have said it might be a scam, it’s not on their website, how will they refund etc – that doesn’t seem likely and pretty bloody niche for a scammer.
Have messaged them via FB to confirm.
My guess is they’ve sold it to a third party – they do it for unreal and unity, so it might not be autodesk at all.
I Had the same email, maybe it a licensing issue with a 3rd party?
The speed of the plugin was good compared to Clothfx. Im a bit pissed off having to move to yet anoither piece of software so soon.
If we go for the refund does it mean we cannot access past projects.
As Deform Dynamics has stopped supporting this plugin; what are the alternative cloth plugins/workflows to use with 3ds Max?
Dynamo didn’t have all the feature I wanted but it was fast I like it. Is Marvelous designer the way forward now?
Max users, what are your opinions?
