Epic Games releases RealityScan 1.6 with new scanning modes and processing options
Epic Games has updated RealityScan, its mobile photogrammetry application, to version 1.6. The latest release introduces two scanning modes, additional camera controls, and a new processing options panel to improve user experience.
The update adds Camera Control Mode alongside the existing Augmented Reality Mode. Augmented Reality Mode retains real-time point cloud visualization and camera position guidance but does not allow manual camera adjustments. Camera Control Mode, in contrast, provides full manual control over focus, shutter speed, ISO values, white balance, and flash settings, though it does not include real-time point cloud or camera position overlays.
A new Processing Options Panel has been introduced, offering users more control over the final output. The panel includes picture thumbnails for a quick preview of captured images and lets users choose between normal and high mesh resolutions, supporting up to one million polygons. It also provides mesh filtering options for either a smooth or detailed appearance and allows users to select between 4K and 8K texture resolutions for improved visual fidelity.

Why did you guys link to a video that is over 2 years old? This is not a new set of features as shown in the video. Maybe it was a type or something. Just giving the heads up.
Hi, In this case it was just to add a bit of context since Epic didn’t release a new video for this version. I can understand the confusion though.
What is the best mobile phone for scanning?
iPhone Pro models have LiDAR, but I notice this software works with Android, so I assume it works by processing regular images.I was under the impression that LiDAR sensors weren’t yet advanced enough on Android phones. There are other scanning apps that require LiDAR.
I’d like to know what the consensus is which mobile to use.
