Ohio State University‘s Advanced Computing Center for the Arts & Design (ACCAD) has installed a motion capture lab equipped with Vicon 8. One of ACCAD’s motion capture pilot projects was to record two new signature pieces by legendary mime Marcel Marceau for the university’s performance archive.
ACCAD works with OSU’s Lawrence and Lee Theatre Research Institute to archive performances from a variety of artists including Marcel Marceau. With motion capture, they are able to record performance and movement more accurately than with recorded video. ACCAD is an interdisciplinary research center, and the capture lab will be open to students and faculty for research and production in medicine, athletics, engineering and the arts.
Vicon also announced that another Vicon 8 real-time system would be installed at the new Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts at the USC School of Cinema-Television.
