Similar to Modo’s Fusion and the recently released Flux HDA for Houdini, Hard Mesh is a plugin for Maya that allows you to make advanced booleans with control of the smoothness of the edges formed after the boolean operation. Hard Mesh started as a collection of scripts a few years ago but is now a proper plugin for Maya.
There’s a 30 days trial available and the plugin is currently priced at €100.00 for the basic version which offers no support while the premium version costs €300.00 and includes full support. If you’re a student or teaches 3D you can inquire about an educational version of the plugin. Every license includes free upgrades for minor releases and a 50% discounted price for major releases. Hard Mesh 2.1 is teased on Vimeo and promises stability fixes, UI enhancements, a bypass function that allows you to experiment with different booleans without losing other variations, isolate elements and more. Find out more about Hard Mesh at Pux’s website.
The plugin is in development for 3DS Max but there’s no word on when it will become available — might even be a long wait. Getting the version for Maya with the features they wanted was a priority.
Very nice!
