Instant Terra 1.13 released

Wysilab has released a new version of Instant Terra, its landscape creation tool. Version 1.13 adds a new world browser that allows the user to download height information from the Open Topography database directly into Instant Terra. A new Colorise satellite map node can then be used to add colour information to this height data based on altitude.

Other improvements in this release include new mask options in the Perlin, Ridged, Billowy and Cellular noise generators; a new colour ramp that shows isolines on the terrain; a mask to colour map option to adding detailed textures to a terrain; and the ability to place a mannequin anywhere on a terrain to help the artist gauge scale.

Prices for Instant Terra start at $149 for a perpetual license. Find out more on Wysilab’s website.

Name? Yes My Mother Gave me one

Im COMPLETELY lost on all the Terrain Generation software, (including their names 🙂 ), theres the older one with old looking GUI i think its called “World Generator”…? Or whatever…
Then there Gaea, and at leas i think 2 other (probably more) with easily mistakable names…

Does anyone know WHICH one “is the best”…? I Remember Gaea beeing the best option probably…? (?)

Then there was the one looking similiar to Geae (at least for me) which sported GPU support for quick preview of changes etc…

I think you’re thinking about World Creator, which is clearly different from World Machine. 🙂

Gaea. Trust me. It’s a bit buggy, but results are the best. Your another option is Houdini Terrain toolset, but then again you would need to build a higher-level nodes for yourself there, to setup a nice working environment.
