Lightmap announces HDR Light Studio 8.2
Lightmap has announced the release of HDR Light Studio 8.2, introducing several new features designed to enhance and speed up the lighting design process. Among the key updates are Preset Auditioning, Reflection Filter, new LightPaint methods including Shadow and Shade, an Infinite setting for Scrim Lights, and the addition of 405 new HDRI Maps sourced from hdrmaps.com.
The new LightPaint methods, Shadow and Shade, offer users more creative control by allowing for precise placement of lights based on the shadows or shade they cast. The Reflection Filter, introduces the ability to create symmetrical lighting designs and apply various effects such as fake floor reflections and water effects.
The update also brings an Infinite Plane setting for Scrim Lights, extending the application of soft lighting effects without the constraints of physical edges. This feature, first introduced in version 8.1, is now further improved to support unlimited lighting scenarios.
Preset Auditioning is a new feature that allows designers to preview lighting presets by hovering over thumbnail images in the Presets Library panel and enhancements to the Preset Library include organizational tabs for easier access and management of presets, the ability to apply the appearance settings of one light to another, and customizable thumbnail sizes. Additionally, the update includes 405 new HDRI maps from hdrmaps.com, expanding the library of lighting environments available to users.
Other updates include adjustments to the Light Handle for easier positioning, a reset option for gradients, streamlined OCIO LUT settings, and the adoption of newer versions of Open ColorIO, OpenImageIO, and Open EXR. These changes are aimed at improving the overall user experience and software performance.
