NDunes updated
NDunes, the 3D real-time platform that’s designed for assembling large scale worlds, has been updated with several new features including a new real-time 3D clouds rendering system, landscape sculpting brushes, camera tracks and more. The software allows the user to import terrains and create rule-based biomes to populate them with materials and 3D models (also created in external applications) to generate large-scale outdoor scenes such as forests, countries, mountains, continents, or even planets. According to the developers, NDunes has been designed to fit into 3D pipelines though details have not been shared at the time of publication. Several features are promised for the future including a water system for oceans and rivers; the ability to add urban environments including buildings and roads; film and camera tracking; animation and scripting; and many more tools for landscape editing. Find out more and download the free beta from the NDunes website.
Unreal Engine can do how are they NDunes?
what is this software ? looks weird i dont see a reason to use it
between houdini, unreal and world creatotr or gaea we dont need this.
the UI looks like 1994 LOL
@_Dareen This software is made for professionals that’s why it is looking weird to you. You should try Vue or Bruce since it has a lot more “colorful” UI. UE4 is great but it cant handle these unlimited view distances with forests and volumetric clouds without dropping to its knees. I will check it out for sure.
Actually this software looks incredible, if you judge by the results at this beta stage. Anyone can give his/hers impressions?
its rubbish imo
child like and has a fenced in ecosystem not for pros – hobbyists only, kind of like a worse vefrsion of Bruce and Vue (both very bad)
A dedicated software for this type of world building can be useful for some people for sure. Not everyone has Houdini or wants to download Unreal if they only want to create massive terrains. Also those tools are highly complex and you need time to learn to use them. Some of the screenshots look impressive. But its a crowded field for sure with Instant Terra and World Machine out there as well.
Yeah I own World Creator, use Houdini and they both patch into Unreal pretty well – however inside unreal you also have the brushify assets to making terrain so I struggle to see the upside here.
I do note that World Creator seem to be going down a bad path by invetsing most of their dev time in making their own ‘renderer’ inside WC thats very bad rather than making tools that link inot other DDCs
I think ultimately WC and Ndunes will fail within 18 months for not understanding custoimers needs and how people make assets now (professionals will not use these software stand alones – they need bridges into pro software to flourish)
