Omniverse open beta now available

NVIDIA has announced the free open beta for Omniverse, its photorealistic 3D simulation and collaboration platform.

Omniverse brings together NVIDIA technologies in graphics, simulation and AI into an RTX based 3D simulation and collaboration platform that operates in real-time and with photorealistic detail.

The aim is to allow remote teams to collaborate simultaneously on projects in the same way that people currently use technologies like Google Docs. The release cites examples such as “architects iterating on 3D building design, animators revising 3D scenes, and engineers collaborating on autonomous vehicles”

Omniverse is based on Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD) format. It has already attracted support from many familiar software developers including Adobe, Autodesk, Bentley Systems, Robert McNeel & Associates and SideFX. Blender is working with NVIDIA to add USD capabilities to enable Omniverse integration with its software.

Users interested in joining the open beta can download the software from NVIDIA’s website.

looking forward to try this!
I guess amongst other things this will be competition for UE4’s cinematic rendering?

btw, I’m having problems with loading the cgpress site lately. Many times it just doesn’t load, like it couldn’t resolve the DNS or something, maybe it’s just me

Installed and tried. It just wasted my time going round in circles with registration.
