Pixologic release free ZBrushCoreMini
Pixologic has announced ZBrushMini, a new completely free version of its digital sculpting application. As you would imagine, it features a limited subset of tools but includes Sculptris Pro adaptive tesselation, 8 brush types, the ability to sculpt symmetrically, 2 base meshes, eight materials and more. ZBrushCoreMini is able to export a decimated OBJ or in one of two newly supported formats – Image3D GIF and Image3D PNG.
You can see a full list of what’s included on the ZBrushCoreMini website where you will also find a list of side-by-side features so you can see how it differs from ZBrushCore
It is worth a mention that it is free for non commercial use only.
Just use Blender
Just taste it…
yea I will agree, with blenders full steam ahead on improving its sculpting features, there’s no point to use this version of zbrush.. if you want to get into sculpting blender has a brighter future with more features =)
I disagree. Zbrush mini is easier to catch up by traditional artists or younger users. Lack of functions, clear interface.
Just sit and sculpt.
Try this in blender 😀 Try anything in blender if you’re unexperienced with modeling software.
Comparing full package like Blender or even zbrush to mini version of zbrush core is just silly.
yea I think that is valid point, but how long will you use this software before you hit a roadblock and are forced into paying for the real deal? Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it only allows you to have 1 subtool?
If you are a beginner getting into 3D there is nothing wrong with jumping in a full package like blender or Zbrush after all the longer you put that off the longer it will take for you to learn.
I absolutely love Blender, but this is a really smart move by Pixologic, and for sure a great way to get acquainted with the workflow and most important the navigation which seems to be a point of grief.
And to be honest, sculpting in zbrush still feels more robust, it’s not about the features, is more about how the strokes feel like cutting butter.
Having said that, blender tools are fantastic, specilly on a round of rapid fire changes and at some point it will have actual voxel sculpting which will be fantastic, so getting into it is a pretty good investment.
Sculpting in Zbrush feels soooo much better…butter smooth:)
Well that’s nice of them. Unfortunately the site is down to get more info.
This’s extremely useless, some of the most fundamental features of sculpting are missing like Subdivision sculpting, Masking, Subtools and to make the software even more useless there’s 750k limit + not for commercial use, I never thought Zbrush can be this useless.
It’s meant for people to get their feet wet, not for producing anything of value or commercial use. Just like Sculptris is for the most part, it’s for toying around in and for those to understand the basics of 3D sculpting, nothing more. If you want more, jump up to ZBrush Core, it’s not that expensive. Or like any serious 3D artist, just get a ZBrush license.
ZBrush Core Mini is not for anyone on this site really, but maybe for those who have children who might be interested in getting into the same field as their parents.
Agreed. Also, there is many ppl like traditional artist or CAD modelers that would love to try digital sculpting.
I can’t imagine learning Blender just to try sculpting in it. But I can imagine trying ZBCoremini as it introduces you very easily to the most popular sculpting app. From there there is shor road to zbcore or full zbrush.
