Senior 3D designer and Archviz artist Vincent Filhine-Trésarrieu has made a great short about the Buzludzha Monument, a building constructed by the Communist Party in Bulgaria that served as venue for official events until the fall of the Soviet Union. The film was made using 3DS Max, Speedtree, Terragen 4 and Blender, among others. The artist also composed the music for the
short. Watch the film on this news item.
In Vincent Filhine-Trésarrieu’s words:
I discovered the Buzludzha monument years ago, and I’ve always wanted to
tell a story about it.
This building, located on top of a peak in the Central Balkan Mountains
in Bulgaria, used to be the headquarters of the Communist Party and is
now slowly decaying since the collapse of the USSR in 1991.
I had the opportunity to visit the building twice and I enjoyed the
experience so much that I decided to produce a short film about it.
I wanted to try and convey the feelings I had when getting up there and
slowly getting closer.
All the assets where modelled and textured by myself (building,
sculptures, landscape, car, trees and grass…), using a variety of
software such as 3DS Max, Speedtree, Terragen 4, Blender and Nuke.
I also composed the music; I wanted this film to be 100% homemade.
I hope you’ll enjoy it!
