Eat 3D has released a new DVD by TA Luiz Kruel teaching the foundation of writing your own custom shaders. The training focuses on using the CGFX shader language using Maya, but the principles should be equally valid in 3DS Max. The DVD covers the common shader types and maps including Lambert, Fresnel, Phong, diffuse, specular, normal, and cubemaps and more advanced techniques including UV manipulation, vertex animation, blending textures, and SSS.
