Ton Roosendaal discusses Project Gooseberry, Blender development team's growth

Thanks to the EU Media Fund's recent approval of support for Blender development the software is bound to get a boost in functionality. According to Ton Roosendaal, who coordinates Blender development, funding and gifts from sponsors have allowed them to hire more people in the past for developing Blender, and the EU Media Fund will now help grow that team even more. They have set the goal to create a feature-length animated film for the next open movie project, which will be created by studios from different countries. As part of the project many open source tools for handling various tasks will be developed, including open source cloud technology, high quality physics simulation systems (particles, hair, cloth, fur, massive animation), and project, content and asset management tools. More on Blender.org.
