Shy Kid on using SORA to create Air Head
FXGuide has published an article discussing the production process used by Shy Kids for Air Head one of the more striking examples used by OpenAI to promote SORA. In the article, Patrick Cederberg, responsible for post-production, emphasized that while SORA is a powerful tool, in it’s current state it is far from replacing the VFX department entirely.
SORA, and other similar generative AI models, create clips based on text prompts but getting precise outcomes remains a challenge, including issues such as object consistency between shots that require significant human intervention to work around.
For Air Head, the team had to upscale the resolution, stabilize footage, and remove unwanted elements in post-production. As a case study, albeit of a project using the technology in its infancy, it might point toward a more realistic future for generative AI in filmmaking, where it complements rather than replaces traditional VFX work.
