Site update – CGPress continues

After some internal discussions a decision has been reached. There has been a change of management and the site will continue to operate under new guidance. To make it viable as a long term project, however, there is still need to increase the site’s income, so we will actively be pursuing avenues for that. Again, a huge thanks to everyone who offered to contribute, all of those who contacted us willing to help, and all of those who would’ve liked to give a hand but couldn’t do it at this moment.

That’s that great news – otherwise where would CG Channel get their stories from?

What’s wrong with placing some ads on the main page?

Hi, Thanks for the comment. Nothing wrong with that at all. We’ll be reinstating the adverts as well as examining other ways to generate necessary revenue. You can be certain that whatever happens though, articles will remain independent from commercial interests.

Anyone interested in advertising on CGPress can contact us here.

Thanks!

Have you thought about a web browser bitcoin miner? That should help generate income when people visit the site.

I’m not sure that’s entirely ethical, it’s not quite what we had in mind. Thanks for the suggestion though πŸ™‚

Obviously you wouldn’t hide the fact.

I’m not sure that’s ideal for a site frequented by people who are usually opening a browser because their machine is busy rendering.

A bitcoin miner on the website is the worst kind of way to go about it. There is no way what so ever I would visit a site again which has that.
Ads however are fine, I do use adblock, but I would gladly white-list cgpress to help out.

Just to put this to rest. Bitcoin mining is not in our plans for the future of CG Press. If however you could whitelist us in your ad-blockers, we’d be really grateful. Thanks!

CGPress (and Maxunderground before that) was always on my whitelist. I’d like to thank you for always having ads that are relevant to the business, even though that might hurt your income.

What you might consider, although I’m not sure if it works in practice, is having a premium content like FXguide or Tested, where users with a paid account can read articles or tutorials. Might cost more to maintain than the money coming in though.

Why not put a donate button, paypal or something, on the website. I’m much more likely to pay a one off amount than to commit to a monthly subscription.

Is anybody else seeing the site as it was October 7? It’s like I jumped in a time machine.
