Substance Painter 2018 Spring update
Allegorithmic has released an update to Substance Painter. Version 2018.1 introduces several improvements to the core functionality including a new visual style that is intended to unify the feel across the substance portfolio. New UI elements have been added including a dock and contextual toolbar and right-click access to quick menus for the current tool; Viewer and Display settings have been reworked and it’s now possible to drag and drop assets directly into the viewports.
Painting performance has been improved to make it a much smoother experience and seams are now nearly invisible even when painting on an object with badly distorted UVWs. Performance is improved in other areas too including project loading, saving, viewport performance, shelf loading and thumbnail generation.
This release also sees the introduction of 3D noises and a new 3D Gradient generator enabling users to create linear gradients and masks in 3D space much more easily.
A perpetual license for Substance Painter costs $149 with rental options starting at $19.90 per month for the entire suite plus the right to purchase a perpetual license after 12 months. For more information and demos of the new features visit the Allegorithmic blog.
