The Grove 11 tree modelling add-on for Blender released
F12 has announced the release of The Grove 11, the latest version of its procedural tree modelling add-on for Blender.
New features include geometry nodes for twig duplication, and simulation layers are now written to attributes – two transitions that offer more creative freedom, speed and efficiency. It is now possible to see the tree grow while the simulation is running and an extra layer of wind is available to add a breeze effect to the twigs, the groves terminology for the final small branches and leaves. Several improvements have been made to existing tools alongside newly added tools like stash and undo.
This release also sees a new roots tool to automatically create root systems for trees. Find out more and read some interesting background information that underpins development on The Grove’s website.
I use The Grove since many versions and can highly recommend it. The new version is a huge improvement once again. But: An awesome Blender addon and no comments? I suspect for most Blender users, everything needs to be free…
For me, the opposite is true. There could be 10 times more paid addons for Blender if it were up to me. But I simply don´t need a tree generator, even if it´s awesome 😉
You suppose wrong!
The blender addon ecosystem is full of sells, it’s just that when something is not polemic it receives way less comments 🙂
I lost the count of the amount of addons I purchased already, and not just me, practically everyone because amongst other things, you know you are directly supporting the developer, they are not subscription based and the addon is yours forever 🙂
Yeah you both have good points there. Yes, me too, I purchased countless Blender addons. There are some true gems available for Blender and The Grove is one of them, a very well done plugin with lots of research behind. By adding lots of twigs addons it can get be a bit pricey but well worth the money for me. And as you mentioned, yours forever – I don’t do subscription. Therefore I stopped upgrading C4D at R21 when they introduced online licensing (and added Blender to the toolset) but I can reinstall and use the previous Cinema versions and plugins ‘forever’. Cheers
I recently learned about a new add-on that adds 3dsmax-like features to blender…
