Solid Iris has announced the release of the latest version of its CPU+GPU renderer for 3DS Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Rhino and Sketchup. New features include:
- Fresnel Ramp procedural – replaces the Fresnel curve
parametrization for coating and glossy
materials, providing a better way to achievie a natural look
for a
broad range of materials (especially for cloth, such as satin and
velvet) - Improved Shadow Catcher – shadows coming from image-based
lighting look much more natural now, following image highlights. The
sun shadows can also be integrated along with the environment
reflections that make the new shadow catcher much more realistic. - Substance Material converter
- Colored coating absorption
- Section Cuts – clipping planes can be defined giving the
possibility to take a “look inside” of your models - Online material repository – new online repository where
all official materials can now be found, along with user own creations - Floating Licensing – allows unlimited installations of the
software, where users can become dynamically licensed through the
license server (typically a machine residing in the local network)
V1.5 is a free upgrade to current owners of the software. New licenses are being offered at a 30-40% discount until August 10. More on Thea Render’s website.
