InfoGraphica appears to be building their own 3D app. Go to http://www.reyes-infografica.com/ and click around. There’s a demo to download (seems to have an install bug) and some information about the interesting approach they’re using.
ed.: This looks like it could be interesting. The project appears to be an open source, open architecture, 3D animation and rendering package the will bundle together a suite of new tools along with all the old Reyes tools. The target platforms are 32 and 64 bit Windows and Linux systems. I wasn’t able to find anything downloadable myself.
