Unreal Engine 5 early access build now available
Epic Games has announced that an early access build of Unreal Engine 5 is now available. The news was revealed during a 15-minute video released on YouTube that also offered a look at the new game development tools and workflows available in Unreal Engine 5 and explores a sample project titled “Valley of the Ancient” that’s also available to download. Some of these new features include:
- A revamped UI that aims to declutter the interface, making panels available when you need them.
- The Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry system that enables you to create worlds with massive amounts of geometric detail.
- The Temporal Super Resolution AA system
- Lumen, the new fully dynamic global illumination solution.
- A procedural Sky Atmosphere System
- Quixel Bridge now integrated directly into the Unreal UI
- MegaAssemblies, which are prebuilt combinations of assets available through Quixel Bridge
- World Partition, a new way of managing large open worlds
- One File Per Actor
- Data Layers
- Game Feature Plugins
- Animation Motion Warping, Full-Body IK and Control Rig
- MetaSounds audio creation system
