V-Ray for Blender Beta Update 2 improves light handling and proxy support
Chaos has released the second update to the public beta of V-Ray for Blender, adding improvements to light management, proxy support, and rendering efficiency.
The update includes the addition of a Lights list to the LightSelect render channel, providing users with better control over individual light contributions. The V-Ray Proxy import process has been fixed, and properties for proxies are now displayed in the ‘Data’ property page. Additionally, support for Alembic files in V-Ray Proxy has been introduced, expanding compatibility with external assets.
Other improvements include the addition of a label indicating the channel type in the render channel properties and a new Firefly Removal value property field to help mitigate unwanted artifacts in renders. The update also sets the V-Ray render engine thread priority to ‘low’ for production renders, optimizing system performance during intensive rendering tasks. As part of the modifications, the V-Ray Scene feature has been temporarily removed from the UI.
