Kamil Małagowski has released v1.0 of his awaited commercial automatic skinning plugin for 3DS Max. Originally conceived as a Maxscript, WeightPro is now a C++ plugin that allows for automatic, fast and smooth Skin modifier weighting, no matter if the mesh has good or messy topology. It voxelizes the mesh with the skeleton using GPU to calculate the shortest distances between the bones and vertices. WeightPro is available for Max 2013-2016. Watch a video on Vimeo and find out more on Kamil Małagowski’s site.

This is like magic. Now I just have to figure out what to do with all those hours I’m gonna save.
@Kamil Małagowski
FYI, be careful.
Autodesk already has patent for the original paper.

So let´s buy it quickly, before Autodesk messes up another great technology.
Im new to skinning/rigging or animating in general (was just doing general CGI without the need to know these field, so i just wanna ask, it looks good, it this really the best technology there is for automatic skinning (in max and in general?) What for example Truebones, how does this compare to true bones?
This is absolutely amazing, wish this was a part of Max out of the box, this will save so much time and effort and headache, hats off to Kamil Małagowski.
Looks great, and at the cost of a video-game, it’s a bargain as well!
