R3DS announced the release of WrapX, a tool for automating transfer of topology from a predefined mesh to a set of 3D scans. The resulting models share the same topology and UV-coordinates and become blendshapes of each other. WrapX allows to create your custom recipe for 3D scan processing and apply that recipe to any number of scans. The recipe can be fully automated or it can prompt the user to provide data such as selecting
control points, etc.
New features added in comparison to the previous Wrap version include:
- Python API for better integration and batch processing
- Integrated Development Environment for quick scripting
- Better compatibility, works on most graphics cards
- Includes a set of example scenarios
- Enhanced non-rigid registration, that can handle bigger
basemeshes - Control points can be placed very precisely
- Works with larger scans
- Mesh subdivision
- Mesh projection
- Now includes six head scans, free for non-commercial and
commercial use
