Corel release PhotoMirage
Corel has released PhotoMirage, a new app for adding a subtle hint of animation to still images. The result is similar to a cinemagraph, but instead of using a video as a source, the animation is created by morphing, fading and looping parts of the image. There are tools to control the morph direction, isolate the areas that should not be affected, crop the photo and perform a one-click improve-image function. The final results can be shared with most popular networks from within the app.
PhotoMirage costs $49.99 and a free trial is available. Find out more and see examples and tutorials on the PhotoMirage website.
It’s called Flow Maps. Simple to implement. Great idea and looks like it’s well done.
You’re right. That’s basically what it is. By the way, how about a Flow Map painter for 3DS Max? I can’t find one that’s still maintained. If only some kind developer would create one … 😉
… like that one? VECmap tools is a new toolset to paint and use vector maps inside 3dsmax.

Oops! You’re absolutely right. I’d forgotten that one. We even ran a story about it on the site. I’m going to blame my age. That looks like exactly what I need.

You can do this now in 3dsmax thanks to OSL without plugins. Check this cool video from Mads Drøschler, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_emOrF-UE_0&t=58s
