According to a post on the SI mailing list by Chris Vienneau, Director of Media and Entertainment at Autodesk, “Toxik and Matchmover will be available on Autodesk Exchange in a week or two with no eula. You won’t need a license to use them anymore.” Read the full thread on the Softimage Mailing List.
Would be interesting to see how many downloads this would actually generate. All those years of development for Toxic/Composite and death of Combustion and this is the out come.
It could be cool if they released also Combustion 😛
Mighty compositing software, I still don’t understand why they killed it… it was so awesome…
The bad thing is that there will be no more development on this so… a bit useless…
yeh would also like to see combustion go EULA free also
I made a solid effort to use Toxik/Composite. But it was just so buggy so damn buggy, when it worked it was pretty fun though.The last straw came when this user on either the area or cgtalk who was big supporter and he was always trying to help people to start using it. just posted one day that he had given up and recommended that people start looking into other software. After that there didn’t seem anypoint.
Combustion, Image Modeler and Stitcher please!
Second that on Combustion and Stitcher
Microsoft ICE isn’t a bad substitute for Stitcher if you’re just looking at making panoramas.
I love Combustion.
@pieforme
Yes, same story!! That guy is Mark Rasmussen with his EnigmaFX blog. His blog and tutorials were the ultimate Toxik/Composite resource. He was the most visible Toxik user in the community. So yes, when he said it was no longer worthwhile learning, hell yes did we listen!
Funnily, I believe he has been using Flame for the last 2 years and was commenting on some of the new features in Flame that were ported from Toxik!! Now toxik is free….apparently.
I do not believe for 1 second that Toxik will be EULA Free. That means anyone could do anything to it. try to reverse engineer and sell it. As if. If it is true, that would be truly incredible. Toxik could live again. But it won’t be true 😉
