From Digital Journal Online: Santa Monica, June 1, 2005 – Today Vi Ly, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for Art Institute of California – Los Angeles announced that: ” We received some sad news yesterday morning regarding Sanford Kennedy‘s passing. Sanford was on the animation faculty at The Art Institute from 1999-2003. “
Sanford died of a heart attack this past Wednesday. His memorial service will be on June 11th at 2pm at 4121 Redwood Ave. in Marina Del Rey.
From Digital
Journal Online: “Sanford was a character amongst characters.
Originally trained as an
engineer and industrial designer, he worked in the aerospace industry
for years, before moving into visual effects. His film credits were as
long as his shock of a white pony-tail, and included, the original Star
Wars, Terminator, T-2, Tron, and True Lies. He published six books on
software and over 100 articles on a multitude of topics related to the
industry. For those of us who had the pleasure of working with
Sanford,we know that he was always up for an afternoon long
conversation on the merits of nurbs versus polygons, conspiracy
theories on nuclear
proliferation and the eternal debate ‘who was better, Hendricks or
vintage Clapton’.”
Sanford has been a fixture in the max community for years. He
will be missed. We at MaxUnderground offer our condolences to all
that were close to him.
